  • Population of the Mid-South Common Market Area: 3,930,943

Canal Park is situated 25 minutes from Memphis International Airport, which has a full complement of domestic and international passenger service, including direct, non-stop service to Europe. Memphis International Airport is served by American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta Airlines Transworld Express, United Airlines, AirTran Airlines, and is a major hub-center for Northwest Airlines and its partner, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.

Canal Park enjoys easy access to all cargo shipping facilities via highway, river, rail, and air. Freight rates are among the lowest in the nation. The main line of the Illinois Central/Canadian National Railroad (Chicago-New Orleans) is located just east of the property. Trucking volume in the area is among the highest in the nation. The Port of Memphis, on the Mississippi River 23 miles northeast of the property, is the second largest inland port in the nation. Air cargo service is provided through Memphis International Airport, the largest-volume cargo airport in the world, with 13 all-cargo airlines, including the world headquarters and national hub-center of Federal Express. Moderate weather patterns allow uninterrupted service throughout the year. In Tunica, the Airport Commission is underway with a $38 million airport expansion, including an upgrade of the runway to 7,200 feet.

In the immediate area of Canal Park, entertainment and fine dining facilities flourish, drawing more than 12 million visitors annually. Within a ten-minute drive of the property, there are nine world-class casinos containing over 12 acres of gaming floor space. Immediately west of the property is the largest dock based casino in the world, with 140,000 square feet of gaming area. It should be noted that while Canal Park is not involved in gaming, it will greatly benefit from this proximity. With seven-day-a-week entertainment, stage productions and nationally-known celebrity entertainers perform regularly in the immediate area.

Near Canal Park is a thirty-one-story casino-owned hotel tower. It is the second-tallest building in Mississippi, and contains 1,200 rooms as well as other popular features and amenities. Other area destination features and amenities completed in 2004 include the Tunica National Golf and Tennis Center with conference facilities; the Tunica RiverPark with Mississippi River Museum, docking facilities for passenger vessels and outdoor EcoTrail; and the County's new indoor aquatic swim center built to Olympic trial standards.
